knee_pad.jpgA gardener’s knee pad. I use it when kneeling in the studio or on location, or when under my desk grappling with wires behind my computer, or any time I need to kneel on the floor (mine is concrete) for an extended period. I’ve tried my son’s athletic knee pads (the roller-blade type) but felt like I was wearing a pair of glasses on my knees. The gardener’s knee pad is great, you can just throw it in front of you as you kneel (add a James Brown style cape for full effect). Mine is soft and rubbery with just enough cushion. Many that I see, shrink-wrapped in the stores, are too hard and feel like kneeling on Pergo. Also, unwrap those outdoors because whatever plastic they use smells awful. Look for something softer, but not too soft. And if it’s green like mine, just get it out of the way if you are shooting anything reflective.
