I did a little double take when I saw the feature on video cameras in Popular Photography magazine’s October print edition (haven’t found this on their online mag yet). The article is prefaced as a convergence feature, with commentary on the still photo capabilities of the profiled video cameras.

I expect we’ll see more of this in both photo and video magazines, with video cameras reaching some high benchmarks in single capture resolution; still cameras shooting at ever-faster capture rates; and with Photoshop Extended offering image stacks, from stills, for adjustable frame-rate animations. To paraphrase Yo-Gabba-Gabba‘s “It’s a party in my tummy,” it’s going to be a party my camera when the distinction becomes, not which video and which still camera to buy, but instead, which camera will do both to great satisfaction.
