Many years ago, OK, many many years ago, a friend gave me a trunk of tools that included some wood clamps. These can be bought new, usually with metal spindles, but I have a few, vintage, all-wood versions of these clamps that I use in the studio. Besides that they won’t scratch surfaces when clamping, just the action of spinning the clamps wider, or narrower, is a joy. I have two large wood clamps and one jumbo version. They’re a bit large for a location kit, but when not being used, they look great just hanging on the studio wall.Posted by Steve Weinrebe
