John Nack, Adobe’s Photoshop maestro, has posted his concept for community powered help right inside the Photoshop program, as an initiative for future versions of the program. It’s not too late to fill out the 3 question survey that might help make this happen.
I hope both Adobe and Photoshop-users get behind this. The staggeringly large, free standing but unstructured online knowledge base for Photoshop can be tapped only by a Wiki-like, community initiative, hosted by Adobe, and monitored by professional volunteers, in the manner that Wikipedia operates. This wouldn’t be so much a marketing asset as a consumer, value added asset for all Photoshop users. His concept isn’t like implementing a web search, because the knowledge base would appear live and intelligent, inside Photoshop’s interface. See John’s mock-up for an idea of how this might be implemented.
