Nikon announces the D3X - 24.5 Megapixel Full Frame DSLR

December 1st, 2008 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Nikon USA today announced their new flagship camera the D3X, a full 35mm frame (FX sensor) with 24.5 megapixels at full resolution. Link here for the Press Release.

Every reviewer will find different points to highlight, and here are mine, both pro and con:

  • High resolution, 24.5 mp
  • 4×5 aspect crop mode available
  • Low noise up to ISO 1600
  • 14 bit
  • 100% frame in viewfinder (thank you)
  • $7999.95 list (let’s just call it $8000)
  • No firewire
  • No video mode, surprising at this point in DSLR evolution
  • Clearly a still photographer’s dream camera
