Prime Time TV Show Shot With DSLR

April 13th, 2010 · No Comments · On Convergence, Photography, Technology, Video

DPReview reports that an episode of the Fox primetime series “House” was shot entirely with the Canon 5D Mark II (and Canon lenses). Anyone following the posts here on convergence won’t be surprised, but the news is welcome and a shot across the bow of video camera designers who persist in mini over-the-shoulder style designs for prosumer video cameras.

I certainly hope Nikon is listening. This photographer won’t wait much longer for more professional Nikon options for high megapixel count and HD 1080P video, with a viewfinder that doesn’t crop a chunk of the frame. Nikon needs to make 2010 the year they respond to Canon’s technology lead in excellent choices for convergent cameras. Otherwise whenever the 5D Mark III comes out (2011?), Nikon will truly be left in the dust.
