New Features in Adobe Photoshop CS6 Public Beta

Pardon the excitement but if you haven’t heard, Adobe has just released the long awaited full dot release update of Photoshop as a Public Beta for Photoshop users worldwide to try out. Photoshop CS6 includes, as always, an astounding array of new features, added on to the already full compliment of professional image editing tools.

New features in Photoshop CS6 include, in part:

    • The first thing you are likely to notice is the new Dark User Interface options (4 flavors offered in Interface Preferences)
    • All new Crop interface and non-destructive cropping by default
    • A new Properties Panel
    • New video editing tools and features including a new Timeline, Video Groups, Transitions, Audio Track, and more
    • New video rendering options for sharing content
    • Automatic background Saves
    • Layer Search with multiple search parameters
    • The new Blur Gallery with a new set of Blur Filters including Field Blur, Iris Blur, and Tilt-Shift
    • A seriously updated Lighting Effects filter
    • A seriously updated Oil Paint filter
    • Adaptive Wide Angle filter to adjust extreme wide angle distortion
    • Content Aware Patch Tool -and- Content Aware Move Tool
    • A host of new Vector Fill and Stroke Options
    • A new 3DLUT Adjustment for video (and still) color looks
    • New Photographic Toning and Split Toning presets for the Gradient Map Adjustment (my contribution to CS6 – see video tutorial, if not posted, coming momentarily)
    • New and improved 3D UI for Photoshop Extended
    • New Brush Presets for natural media painting, including Erodable Brush Tips
    • A new Type menu, enhanced Character panel, and the ability to create Character and Paragraph Styles in the Character Styles and Paragraph Styles panels
    • 64 bit – faster – Bridge and Mini Bridge
    • New Auto Tone algorithm
    • New Process 2012 for Camera Raw, mirroring Lightroom 4′s feature set
