Adobe today announced the much anticipated new version of its Creative Suite of graphics software, CS6. Along with the announcement came a new option for getting and paying for the software, called “Creative Cloud”. See the video demo and release at 1PM today at Adobe’s web site – here.
The new software sounds exciting, and indeed I can attest to Photoshop CS6 being a truly useful upgrade with an elegant new interface. The Creative Cloud? Hmmm, do I need more cloud? I’m still trying to get Apple’s MobileMe and iCloud reconciled. Will users want work existing anywhere but their desktop? Will $49/month pricing convince users they need the Master Collection? (That’s $1,176 shelled out over a 24 month product cycle, certainly a savings if someone needs the Master Collection and is willing to use it via the cloud.) We shall see what we shall see, starting at 1PM today, and the comments that come after. And take a look at Adobe’s stock price this afternoon to gauge the overall reaction with some “future think”.
